Our quaint and charming village of St. Jean de Duras is 1.5 hours east of Bordeaux, 30 minutes south of Bergerac and conveniently located near the many attractions in the Aquitaine region, including the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, historic Bastide villages, magnificent chateaux as well as the world renowned vineyards of this region. The cupboards are filled with basics like coffee, sugar, milk, bread and jam for your everyday needs. There is an excellent artisanal boulangerie just down the road to pick up your daily bread and many diverse restaurants in the area. The owners also know an excellent French chef that can be reserved to come to the Gite and prepare and serve a 5-course meal at about €50 per person + wine. If you reserve in July or August, there are weekly night markets with food stalls and live music that are not to be missed.
